I grew up in Atlanta and had the best parents in the world. When I was just a kid, my dad, George Morris, started his own advertising specialties company with my mom, Polly, keeping the books and the rest of our lives in order.
It was a thrill for me as a teenager to work with my dad; flipping through the catalogs trying to find specialty items for his clients. I’d hear my dad on the phone and marveled at the way he talked to his customers. He was always respectful, helpful and kind. He knew that his success depended on their success. And they depended on him being able to provide that unique piece for their marketing plan.
After I graduated from college I moved to New Bern in 1987 and just fell in love with the place. I worked in media sales and had the opportunity to put some of my dad’s accidental lessons to work. From him I had learned to listen carefully to my customers so that I could provide them with what they needed; on time and within their budget.
Then in 1994, I decided to follow in my dad’s footsteps and started Thea’s Ideas. My goal was to be at least as good as my dad. I had set the bar pretty high. I wanted all my clients and customers to know that I am working for them and care about their success. That I am here to help, to answer questions, and to be sure that things are done right. And it has been working great, so far!
As you may know, I do have IDEAS! Some of them silly like jelly yo-yo’s and some more traditional like engraved pens. And there are lots of new things coming out all the time… have you seen the cooler bags that come with built in cool packs?
That’s why I host Christmas in July! It’s my personal trade show I put on here in New Bern so that my vendors can show off their new and exciting wares to my customers and clients. And it is a great opportunity to support a local charity. This year it will be a food drive for the Religious Community Services (RCS) Food Pantry.
